The Creative Curriculum for preschool provides an environmental approach to learning in which children learn through daily exploration with a rich environment as well as direct teacher instruction.
The Creative Curriculum revolves around eleven content areas which include block play, dramatic play, toys, game play, library, sand and water table play, discovery area play, music and movement activities, cooking, computers and outdoor play. The Creative Curriculum is set up to provide daily experiences in each of these areas that engage children in the learning environment. The teacher has an active role in guiding children’s learning as well as observing and assessing children’s growth in cognitive, physical, literacy and social/emotional areas of development.
