Kids Junction Preschool Learning Center’s curriculum can be compared to a roundhouse. A roundhouse is a building for railroad locomotives with a central turntable and several sections of track branching out from it. Figuratively, the children are the locomotives and the curriculum, the tracks. Our goal is to take the best from curriculum and lay out the track in such a way that your li’l locomotive can learn the most through the Kids Junction Preschool Learning Center Roundhouse Experience.
The Creative Curriculum
An environmental approach to learning in which children learn through daily exploration with a rich environment as well as direct teacher instruction.
The Houghton Mifflin Curriculum
Houghton Mifflin is a hands-on, minds-on curriculum that is based on scientific research. Aligned with key Pre-K learning goals, it provides children with the foundational skills they need to succeed as lifelong learners.
Thirty-six character qualities from the Character First! curriculum are introduced to the children throughout the year. Each quality is combined with an animal that displays a specific character trait. For example; stop, watch and listen like the deer. Each quality is enhanced with “I Will” statements to help the children understand the meaning. Our teachers guide the children through a variety of stories, projects, object lessons, art, signing, music, and games.
Music, Art, & PE Class Specials
Kids Junction is very excited to offer music classes! Our program introduces a variety of elements including music terms, style and instrumental introduction. Through song and dance we hope to reinforce what the children are already learning through rhyming and sound. We hope the introduction of music at a young age will evolve into a lifetime enjoyment of the performing arts.
Kids Junction Art Curriculum is based upon The National Standards of Visual Art, The Elements of Art and The Principles of Design. It is for children ages 3-6 years old.
During the school year your child will be introduced to a variety of art movements, artists, techniques, and quality media. These will contribute to your child’s art awareness, appreciation, and ability. At the end of the school year we’ll celebrate your child’s work at The Art Fair on Kids Junction Square the same week as the annual spring musical.
Physical education classes and sports classes are led by our physical education teacher, Mr Ben. Classes are offered in the Princeton Club gym and on the rooftop soccer field.
Bible Stories & Songs
Children enjoy music, puppets, Bible stories, and skits each week.
Signing Time allows children an opportunity to expand their world through the art of communication with their hands. Children create projects to reinforce what they learn through Signing Time.
Children receive several opportunities for dramatic play during the day. Dramatic play is central to children’s healthy development and learning during the preschool years.
Learning Without Tears
Learning Without Tears uses multi-sensory techniques for letter building and recognition to teach handwriting to children of every age.
Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards (WMELS)
WMELS provides us with the developmental continuums from which we can create individual goals for the children to help us assess their age-appropriate and milestone development.
